In response to the energy crisis and the associated workload, Federal Minister of Economy Robert Habeck is restructuring his ministry. Habeck told a convention on Thursday:

New Energy Security Department
A new department for “energy security and economic stability” will be set up in the ministry, according to a spokesperson. The aim is to create new synergies and bring the tasks together more closely.

Steinberg heads the new department
The new department will be headed by Philipp Steinberg, who previously headed Division I Economic Policy. In this function, Steinberg was also responsible for stabilization measures provided by companies such as Uniper and Lufthansa. According to the spokesperson, a new departmental management position is not necessary as the two departments have merged.
