Post: Cabinet decides on skilled labor migration

Easier migration to the job market: Anyone with a good command of German and work experience should be able to score and look for a job in Germany. The traffic light decided this.

The federal government has approved the cornerstones for easier immigration of skilled workers. Job seekers from other countries should get points if they speak German well, for example. These people should also be allowed to enter the country without an existing employment contract, according to the cabinet decision on Wednesday.

Those from third countries can look for a job in Germany if they “have good potential”. The criteria for this are: qualifications, language skills, professional experience, connection with Germany and age. That’s what it says in the federal government’s major issues report, available to the ZDF capital studio.

To secure skilled workers is to secure welfare. In the future, Germany will need all the bright minds.

In the future, you will also be able to send certificates digitally.

In addition, foreign professional qualifications should be more easily recognized. In the future, it will also be possible to accept required documents such as certificates in English or in their original language. It should be possible to send them digitally – which leads to the conclusion that this is not possible so far.

Education Minister Stark-Watzinger (FDP) speaks of “centralized access” to the digital app for degrees recognition.

According to Economy Minister Habeck (The Greens), the deal points “forward”. It works aggressively for a society of many. The federal government plans to turn the cornerstones into law next year.

Today’s cabinet decision should not be confused with the recently discussed German citizenship reform. According to the plans of Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD), anyone staying in Germany for five years must obtain a German passport every eight years. The project is already in the coalition agreement of traffic lights. But the FDP has concerns.

Merz: Many are ‘unusable’ for the labor market

CDU leader Friedrich Merz has criticized plans to migrate skilled workers from non-EU countries. “We need more,” Merz admitted in the ZDF morning magazine. However, Germany is not using its full potential.

In addition, many immigrants do not have professional qualifications and are ‘absolutely unsuitable for the job market’. Merz says:

Here we take many people who cannot be placed in the labor market to Germany. Those we need don’t want to come either.
