Russian President Vladimir Putin urged his country’s security forces to do more in all areas. “Today we face a dynamically changing situation in the world, new risks and threats place increasing demands on Russia’s entire security system,” he said in a video speech (local time) on Tuesday night.
The reason for the speech was the so-called Day of the Russian Security Forces.
Putin wants to protect citizens in “new territories”
One of the most important tasks of the security forces is to protect the citizens of Russia’s “new regions”. This meant the annexation of Ukraine by Moscow in violation of international law.
Putin stressed that the situation in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions is actually difficult.
