Heusgen: Xi’s visit is important for both countries
Heusgen also commented on the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Heusgen said Xi’s visit to Moscow was important to both statesmen. After receiving an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court at least last week, Putin wants to show his people that Russia is not alone.
The three-day state visit suited Putin well, especially since the war was not going as Putin had imagined and the country was not doing well economically.

Beijing is committed to a ceasefire and negotiations.
Putin has had an arrest warrant for war crimes by the International Criminal Court since Friday.
