Post: Lindner wants to save on long-term unemployed

Finance Minister Lindner wants to cut benefits for the long-term unemployed: he plans to save 609 million euros by 2029.

Heil 2018 at ZDF: If you’ve been receiving benefits for seven years, you’re often not only faced with the problem of having little money because you don’t have an income, but you also often have many social problems with it.

said Labor Minister Hubertus Heil on the ZDF morning show. The social democrat wants to offer all Hartz IV recipients who have been unemployed for at least seven years a government-sponsored job with coaching and further education opportunities. The day can be reconfigured so you have colleagues so you don’t feel overwhelmed and that’s the whole point.

Katja Kipping: “Reductions in Hartz IV, the poorest, in labor market policy – and given an autumn of energy poverty – don’t work that way, Mr. Lindner. Congratulations on the wedding are in my throat”
