Donald Trump’s former chief strategist has refused to testify for months about storming the Capitol. Now a jury has found him guilty.

Steve Bannon, former chief strategist of former President Donald Trump, was found guilty of contempt of Congress. On Friday, a jury found him guilty of failing to comply with a subpoena from the investigating committee regarding the storming of the Capitol in Washington on January 6, 2021.

The penalty will be announced later. Bannon faces up to two years in prison. Each of the two charges he is found guilty of faces at least 30 days in prison.

Bannon was tried in November

Bannon was indicted last November for failing to testify or disclose documents when summoned by the committee to court.

Bannon, 68, co-founded right-wing internet platform Breitbart before Trump brought him to the White House. The president fired him in 2017. Therefore, at the time of the storming of the Capitol, he no longer held an official position within the US government, but was in contact with Trump.
