The turnout in the municipal elections held in Moscow as of 15:00 on Friday was 12.8 percent.
MOSCOW, September 9 – RIA Novosti. The head of the public headquarters responsible for monitoring the elections in Moscow, Vadim Kovalev, told reporters on Friday that turnout in local elections in Moscow has already reached 12.8 percent.
“Our headquarters calculated that 839,752 votes would have been cast if 77,584 people voted at the ballot boxes and we made a screen … a turnout of about 12.8% is 3 hours today,” Kovalev said.
Olga Kirillova, head of the Moscow City Election Commission, told reporters that no complaints were received by the Moscow City Election Committee about significant violations. At the same time, a helpline was set up, which received 64 calls, all related to difficulties in remote electronic voting.
The previous large-scale elections for the Moscow municipalities’ Councils of Deputies were held on a single voting day on September 10, 2017. Voter turnout was 14.82 percent.
In Moscow, municipal elections in 2022 will be held in 125 out of 146 municipalities. Voting in the municipal deputies elections will be held in three days from September 9-11.

Governors will be elected in 14 regions of Russia, legislative assemblies will be formed in six regions, and deputies of the administrative center will be voted on in 12 regions. In addition, voters will have to decide on local governments.

Kaliningrad region is one of 26 districts where voting took place on 9, 10 and 11 September. Governor Anton Alikhanov went to the polls on the first day.

The voting period in Moscow is three days. MPs are elected in 125 out of 146 municipalities. There were 5638 candidates on the ballot.

Also, Muscovites can vote remotely on any of the three days, there is no need to apply for it.

The ballot boxes were also opened in the Ryazan, Vladimir and Yaroslavl regions. They elect governors.

Voters cast their votes in the governor’s election in Tambov.

In total, 67 candidates from ten parties registered for the election of senior officials, two of whom ran their own candidacy.
