According to the press service of the NOC, this statement was made in Moscow at the plenary meeting of the NOC athletes’ commissions and the Russian Olympic Committee.

The heads of the Belarusian and Russian Olympic committees noted that a prerequisite for a minor change in the position in international structures regarding the participation of Belarusian and Russian athletes is not only the many competitions held, but also the position of the athletes. “We manage to organize good competitions that allow the athletes to train well and stay fit. We also organize tournaments with member countries of the SCO and BRICS organizations, so all this is very important,” said Lukashenka.

At the end of February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. A number of IFs have followed this recommendation.
