Guberniev on the removal of Russian biathletes: being optimistic is a rubric for idiots
MINSK, September 16 – RIA Novosti, Alexander Govorov. Sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev told RIA Novosti that he misjudged the optimism about the admission of Russian biathletes to international debuts.
The Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) on Friday decided to approve the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice.
“I don’t understand any talk about our suspension. Being optimistic now is a rubric for idiots. Realists realize it’s a long time to come. I’ll be very happy to be wrong, but nothing good is waiting for us nearby. Calmly do the will of the skiers and everyone else who is optimistic for some reason.” it needs to get into a fist and hold competitions within Russia, making the utmost effort to explain our position to international institutions along the way. Dialogue cannot be stopped,” Guberniev said.
