Senator Isakov called the head of the US Olympic Committee’s remarks about Russia’s return as blackmail
MOSCOW, September 16 – RIA Novosti. The statement of the head of the US Olympic Committee, Suzanne Lyons, about the possibility of returning individual athletes from Russia to international competitions is blackmail, because we are talking about the return of athletes in a neutral status and after special public condemnation. The operation, said Senator Eduard Isakov, a former world champion in powerlifting.
Lyons previously noted that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is considering bringing Russian athletes back to international competition and this will inevitably happen.
At the end of February, the IOC recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. A number of IFs have followed this recommendation.
According to him, we all understand the IOC and the USA – the words are synonymous. And in this speech, it was not “the serious return of Russian athletes to the international arena with their own flags and anthems, but the contempt that allowed their “owners” to return to the arena as “neutral athletes” for individual characters. After publicly condemning the SVO,” Isakov stressed.
“We must now firmly understand that Americans are trying to destroy our identity with humiliating demands, and we must not and will not allow it. There can be only one condition for our return: united front performance. Russian athletes are under their own flag and anthem at all international competitions,” wrote Isakov.
In this case, the Senator admitted that “our Western colleagues were impressed by the degree of cynicism – absolutely illegal in the first place, in violation of the Olympic Charter, suspending our Olympians, Paralympics, and Deaf Olympics from international competitions.” Then, for half a year, their completely corrupt and politicized courts defrauded them at the CAS, giving false hopes and promises to our athletes, honored masters of sports, Olympic champions.
Isakov emphasized that Russia is a strong and independent state. Our athletes are the strongest in the world, we have trained hundreds of Olympic champions. “I don’t think we should ever accept the conditions of the West. Conditions that humiliate a Russian, a Russian athlete, should be unacceptable,” the politician said.
In his opinion, our athletes should be an example to Russian children, they became “like our valiant warriors of the Donbass, who heroically defended their history, culture, language and traditions.”
