The Moscow Marathon will be held in the Russian capital on Sunday.
MOSCOW, September 18 – RIA Novosti. The Moscow Marathon, Russia’s biggest race, will be held in the capital on Sunday.
Dmitry Tarasov, the founder of the “Running Community” and the director of the Moscow Marathon, stated that the number of people who wanted to participate in the race this year was a record, with approximately 37 thousand people registered.
Runners can traditionally choose between two distances – 42.2 or 10 kilometers. There will also be a corporate relay race. Also, within the framework of the Moscow Marathon, the All-Russian Spartakiad final in summer sports will be held among the strongest marathon runners.
All participants will start the race at 09:00 at the same time. The marathon route will start at the Luzhniki Small Sports Arena, and the 10-kilometer race will start on Luzhniki Street, near the Walk of Fame. Athletes will run along the Kremlin walls along the Moscow River, Garden and Boulevard Rings, Crimean Bridge, Tverskaya Street, Teatralny Proyezd embankments and finish on Festivalnaya Square.
Leaderboards await medals, trophies, gifts and cash prizes. All participants who meet the six-hour limit will be awarded a commemorative medal based on the architectural symbols of the city on the route.
