The Netherlands national tennis team advanced to the Davis Cup playoffs, defeating the United States.
MOSCOW, September 17 – RIA Novosti. The Netherlands national tennis team defeated the USA in the third round match of the Davis Cup Final group stage played in Bologna, Glasgow, Hamburg and Valencia.

The Group D match in Glasgow ended with a score of 2-1. Dutch Tallon Grikspor defeated Tommy Paul 7:5, 7:6 (7:1), compatriot Botik van de Zandshulp defeated Taylor Fritz. American Jack Sock and Rajiv Ram beat Wesley Koolhof/Matwe Middelkop 4:6, 7:6 (7:3), 6:4 in doubles match.
Having won all three matches, the Dutch team advanced to the quarter-finals from the first place in the Davis Cup group. Team USA advanced to the playoffs in second place. The teams of Great Britain and Kazakhstan lost the chance to play the playoffs.
The playoff matches of the tournament will be held in Malaga from November 22 to 27.
The current winner of the Davis Cup is the Russian team. The team is not participating in the current tournament, as the International Tennis Federation (ITF) suspended the membership of the Russian and Belarusian federations in March. Russian and Belarusian athletes cannot participate in team competitions under the auspices of the ITF. The Russians were replaced by the Serbs in the Davis Cup Final.
