Lokomotiv without Nikitin beat Severstal in KHL championship match
MOSCOW, September 30 – RIA Novosti. Yaroslavl “Locomotive” defeated Cherepovets “Severstal” in the home match of the regular season of the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
The meeting in Yaroslavl ended with a score of 5:3 (1:3, 1:0, 3:0). The home team’s goals were scored by Pavel Kraskovsky (15th minute), Stepan Nikulin (31), Georgy Ivanov (44), Andrey Sergeev (46) and Rushan Rafikov (47). Alexander Suvorov scored two goals for the visitors (2, 17), Robin Press scored another (16).
“Locomotive” head coach Igor Nikitin was absent from the bench due to the death of his father. The team was led by senior coach Dmitry Yushkevich.
Lokomotiv is fourth in the Western Conference table with 16 points from 13 games, while Severstal is ninth with 12 points from 12 games. In the next match on October 4, Yaroslavl will play away with Novosibirsk “Siberia”, the Cherepovets team will visit Moscow “Dynamo” two days ago.
