American basketball players crush Chinese women to become 11-time World Cup champions
MOSCOW, 1 October – RIA Novosti. The USA women’s basketball team suffered a crushing defeat to the Chinese team in the World Cup final in Sydney, Australia.
The meeting ended with a score of 83:61 (18:13, 25:20, 25:14, 15:14). As part of the winners, the most prolific basketball player was Aizha Wilson, who scored 19 points.
Wilson became the tournament’s most valuable player (MVP). He averaged 17.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 2.2 steals per game.
The US women’s basketball team has won the World Cup 11 times.
Earlier, the Australian team won the bronze of the competition, beating the Canadian team – 95:65 (27:21, 24:22, 20:11, 24:11).
Previously, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) decided to prevent Russian teams from participating in all competitions under the auspices of the organization. The Russian national team at the World Cup was replaced by the Puerto Rico team.
