SKA coach Rotenberg on gesture in match with CSKA: overwhelmed feelings

MOSCOW, October 5 – RIA Novosti, Andrey Senchenko. st. Petersburg SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg said that he was overwhelmed with emotions in the match of the regular season of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) against Moscow CSKA (3:2 OT).

After SKA’s winning goal, Rotenberg made a gesture for which he was punished with disciplinary action.

“You can interpret gestures in different ways, somewhere the emotions are drowned out. I emphasize once again that I have great respect for all opponents. Hockey is a game of emotions. You can’t win without them,” Rotenberg told reporters.

On Wednesday, SKA defeated Spartak in Moscow. The match ended with a score of 5:1.

“We understood that Spartak defended very well. My guys did a great job, they completed the set of the match, they got the win. Every match is important for us, there is no easy game. Spartak is a strong opponent. We talked to CSKA, we discussed it with the guys, “We have a lot to improve. There are details, we work day and night. As for our fitness and the system we set up before the season, we are club employees. The coaching team can never be fully satisfied. There is always something to improve and we are working on it. The guys are busy regularly. In terms of our attitude to hockey, the word “majestic” does not fit the SKA. You will definitely do it. Never see big players in SKA,” added Rotenberg.
