Dutch Gymnastics Association boycotts FIG congress due to Russian participation
MOSCOW, October 18 – RIA Novosti. According to the news of Inside the Games, the Dutch Gymnastics Union is boycotting the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Congress due to the participation of Russians and Belarusians.
Previously, the decision to boycott the FIG Congress, which will be held in Istanbul (Turkey) on 11-12 November, was taken by the gymnastics federations of Norway, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and Italy.
Originally the convention was supposed to be held in Sandefjord (Norway) in October, but the FIG, the Norwegian Gymnastics Federation’s Olympic Committee and the Norwegian Ministry of Culture have joined the Russia and Belarus forum.
In March, Russian athletes were suspended from international competitions by the FIG due to the situation in Ukraine.
