Post: Bach criticizes the Danish NOC for its call for Russians not to be admitted to the General Assembly

Bach criticizes Danish NOC chief for urging not to let Russians into ANOC General Assembly

MOSCOW, October 19 – RIA Novosti. International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach was critical of the Danish National Olympic Committee’s proposal not to allow Russian representatives to enter the plenary session of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).

At the meeting, Danish NOC chairman Hans Natorp criticized the decision to admit the representatives of Russia and Belarus to the General Assembly. Norway and New Zealand delegates also opposed the existence of the Russian and Belarusian Olympic Committees.

Bach replied, “Our unity does not lie in the fact that everyone agrees with you. We have a democratic organization and we must respect the majority. No Russians, Danes, Germans, Argentines. There are athletes, sports organizations for us, but we will not treat everyone with the same brush because of the actions of their governments.”

After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the IOC Executive Committee recommended that sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions.
