Djokovic became the first finalist of the tournament, defeating Fritz in two tie-breaks with a score of 7:6 (7:5), 7:6 (8:6).

“I had to fight to survive, I didn’t feel very comfortable today. After a tough match with Daniil Medvedev, I knew I would need time to adjust to the dynamics of the game against Fritz, who had one of the best serve, after a bad start to the second set. I had to be patient and I managed to get his serve with a score of 5:4, as in yesterday’s Medvedev match. At such moments, I shift into another gear to take control of my nerves,” Djokovic is quoted as saying on the ATP official website.

“I’m very happy to get over it as I didn’t think it was one of my best days in tennis, but I survived,” the Serbian player said.

In the final, 35-year-old Djokovic will face the winner of the match of Russian Andrey Rublev (6) and Norwegian Kasper Ruud (3). The Serbian has won the tournament five times (2008, 2012-2015).
