MOSCOW, November 20 – RIA Novosti, Oleg Bogatov. The victories of the President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR), Veronika Stepanova and Artem Maltsev at the stage of the Russian Cup in Khakassia do not look unexpected, the competition in the team is high and none of the leaders will be satisfied with their previous successes. Elena Vyalbe told RIA Novosti.
On Sunday, Olympic champion Veronika Stepanova won the 5km freestyle at the Russian Cup stage at the Top of Tyoi. The second was Natalya Nepryaeva, the winner of the 2022 Games and a two-time medalist, and the third was Ekaterina Smirnova. Maltsev won the 10km freestyle, with Evgeny Belov and Savely Korostelev in the top three. Three-time Beijing Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov took fourth place.
“He’s the same person,” said the agency’s interlocutor, guessing Bolshunov’s fourth place, “Maybe he trained hard, maybe the skis didn’t work as well as the others today. It’s hard for me to say, I didn’t ask. Sasha, because it’s necessary to ask any questions here. I don’t think it is.”
The second stage of the Russian Cup will also be held at Choi’s Summit from 30 November to 4 December.
