Captain “Washington” Ovechkin congratulates “Boston” Bergeron with 1000th NHL
MOSCOW, November 22 – RIA Novosti. Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin congratulated Boston Bruins played Patrice Bergeron with 1,000 points in the regular championship of the National Hockey League (NHL).
The “Boston” captain provided an assist against the “Tampa Bay Lightning” team in the regular season game (5:3). He scored 1,000 points (409 goals and 591 assists) in 1,235 NHL games with the same club. Bergeron becomes the eighth current NHL player to reach this milestone. Before that, Sidney Crosby, Ovechkin, Patrick Kane, Evgeni Malkin, Anze Kopitar, Eric Staal and Niklas Beckstrom scored 1000 points.

The 37-year-old Canadian player was also congratulated by Crosby, Kane, Kopitar, Staal and Backstrom.
Bergeron was selected by Boston in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft with the 45th overall pick. He made his debut for the Bruins in October of that year and has since played exclusively for Boston in the NHL. The striker is the winner of the Stanley Cup in 2011.
