Sky Sports: Glazers considering selling Manchester United
MOSCOW, November 23 – RIA Novosti. According to Sky Sports, the Glazer family, owner of England’s Manchester United, is considering options for the partial or total sale of the football club.
Earlier it was reported that American entrepreneurs were discussing the possibility of selling their stake in the club to find new investors. The Daily Mail reports that the Glazers are ready to sell the club for £3.75 billion (about $4.3 billion). One of the potential contenders for the acquisition of the club has been named the richest man in the UK and Manchester United fan Jim Ratcliffe as well as investors from Dubai. The Daily Star later reported that the Glazers would consider selling the club if an offer exceeds $10 billion.
American businessmen have instructed investment bankers to examine a process that could involve selling the club in whole or in part or strategic partnerships with third parties. An official statement from Glazers could be released soon.
Manchester United announced on Tuesday that the contract of Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been terminated by mutual agreement of the parties.
Manchester United fans have been against the Glazer family for years. In May 2021, United fans infiltrated Old Trafford before their Premier League game against Liverpool. They lit fireworks and sang hymns on the pitch of their stadium.
