Croatian tennis team advances to Davis Cup semi-finals
MOSCOW, November 24 – RIA Novosti. The Croatian national tennis team defeated the Spanish team in the Davis Cup quarterfinals.
The fight between the two teams in Malaga (Spain) ended with a score of 2-0. In the first leg, Borna Coric defeated Roberto Bautista-Aguta 6:4, 7:6 (7:4). In the second match, Marin Cilic defeated Pablo Carreno-Busta 5:7, 6:3, 7:6 (7:5).
Croatia will face Australia in the Davis Cup semi-finals. In the other pairs of the 1/4 final, the Italians will play with the USA team, the German team will face the Canadians.
The current winner of the Davis Cup is the Russian team. Since the International Tennis Federation (ITF) suspended the membership of the Russian and Belarusian federations in March, the team is not participating in the current tournament. Russian and Belarusian athletes cannot participate in team competitions under the auspices of the ITF.
