Figure skaters Gilles and Poirier take the lead after rhythm dance on the Finnish Grand Prix stage

MOSCOW, November 25 – RIA Novosti. Canada’s Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier take the lead after a rhythmic dance in the sixth round of the Figure Skating Grand Prix series in Espoo, Finland.

For their performance, Gilles and Poirier received a score of 87.80. US Representative Caitlin Hawayek/Jean-Luc Baker is second with 80.93. The top three round out their compatriots Christina Carreira/Anthony Ponomarenko (76.20).

Skaters will present their free dance on Saturday.

Against the backdrop of events in Ukraine on March 1, the Council of the International Skating Union (ISU) banned Russian and Belarusian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track skaters from participating in international tournaments. In June, the ISU Congress passed this resolution, and it will remain in effect until further notice.
