Karl Geiger showed his improved form in the first “Snow World Cup” of the season and entered the top 10 for DSV-Adler at the winter World Cup in Ruka, Finland.
When Slovenian Anze Lanisek won the Arctic Circle, she moved up to sixth place overall, second place at last year’s World Cup. A good month before the start of the Four Hills Tournament, Geiger gained a lot of confidence.

Lanisek scored his second World Cup victory with 149.0 and 141.5 m (312.8 points), just ahead of Austria’s world champion Stefan Kraft (311.5) – he also celebrated his first at Ruka last year. In the first lap, Lanisek had improved the hill record held by Geiger, among others, by one and a half meters. Third place was Piotr Zyla (300.7). Dawid Kubacki (both Poles), a double winner at Wisla, retained the World Cup leader’s yellow jersey in fourth place.
Leyhe missed the top ten
Two-time Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger was the 14th second-best German. Six-time world champion Markus Eisenbichler took a powerful 142.0m jump in the first lap, but had major problems on the descent and then suffered mild knee pain. After a mixed second jump, it was enough for only 16th place in the final.
Pius Paschke took 18th Former world champion Stephan Leyhe, still the best German after the first round of eighth, missed a good result due to a weak second bounce and took 21st place.
