On Thursday, the FTC RFU suspended Zenit players Rodrigo, Malcolm and Wilmar Barrios, as well as Spartak players Alexander Selikhov, Alexander Sobolev and Shamar Nicholson for six games in the Russian Cup for participating in a massive brawl in the tournament’s group stage match. .

“The decision is fair, the instigators received the maximum possible punishment. I support the FTC RFU, which showed that punishment is inevitable after deviating from the norms of behavior. What happened tells us that educational work is completely lost. Team play requires the observance of a certain code of ethics,” said Teryushkov.

According to him, clubs should have staff who will work with the players to supervise the discipline.

“As in the case of the deputy commander who works with staff in the army, it is necessary to bring in responsible staff who work with football players on the coaching staff. Every club has a mandatory position in the structure of manager for working with fans, and training work with football players on the coaching staff is thrown beyond the interests of the clubs,” he added.

The match was played in St. Petersburg on 27 November as part of the sixth round of the Russian Cup group stage. It was played in St. Petersburg. At the end of the regular time of the match, which ended with a score of 0:0, a brawl broke out on the field with the participation of the players of both teams. As a result of the incident, referee Vladimir Moskalev showed six players red cards: Rodrigo, Malcolm and Barrios from Zenit and Nicholson, Sobolev and Selikhov from Spartak. Zenit came out stronger in the penalty shootout – 4:2.
