Swiss footballers beat the Serbs and became the last runners up to the World Cup playoffs in Qatar.
DOHA, 3 December – RIA Novosti. The players of the Swiss national team won the final ticket to the play-offs of the tournament by defeating the Serbian team in the third round match of the World Cup group stage held in Qatar.
The Group G match held at the “974” stadium on Friday ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of Switzerland. Xherdan Shaqiri (20th minute), Brel Embolo (44) and Remo Freuler (48) scored goals for the winners. The Serbs scored goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic (26) and Dusan Vlahovic (35).

In the 4th minute of the extra time, a brawl broke out in the match that started with the argument between Swiss national midfielder Granit Jaka and Serbian defender Nikola Milenkovic. Instigators are shown the yellow card.
Collecting 6 points in three games in the group stage, the Swiss team qualified to participate in the 1/8 final to play against Portugal. Serbian team finished the tournament with 1 point. The Brazilians had previously made it to the playoffs from Group G.
