Genoa football player Portanov sentenced to 6 years in prison for rape
MOSCOW, December 6 – RIA Novosti. Genoa football player Manolo Portanova has been sentenced to six years in prison in a gang rape case, La Stampa reported.
The 22-year-old football player was reportedly found guilty of raping a 21-year-old student of Tuscan origin. Due to the simplified procedure of the trial, the defendant’s sentence was commuted. The court also set the amount of compensation for the victim at 100,000 euros.
The incident that gave rise to the allegations took place in Siena in May 2021. According to the investigation, Portanova retired with a student but later helped her uncle, friend, and underage brother, who committed gang rape, into the room. The actress claimed that gender was consensual.
Portanova has made 12 Serie B appearances for Genoa this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
