MOSCOW, January 3 – RIA Novosti. The Boston Bruins defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season game.

The “Winter Classics” match was held outdoors at the “Fenway Park” stadium in Boston and ended with the home team scoring 2:1 (0:0, 0:1, 2:0). As part of the winners, a double goal was scored by Jake DeBrusk (48th and 58th minutes). Guests recorded Kasperi Kapanen (29).

The game was the 36th outdoor game in NHL regular season history. Boston hosted the fourth Winter Classic (2010, 2016, 2019). In 2010, the match was also played at Fenway Park. For “Pittsburgh” this meeting was the third in the series (2008, 2011). Russian Penguin forward Evgeni Malkin and striker Sidney Crosby were featured in the team’s first Winter Classic in 2008.

In 2024, the Winter Classics game will be held in Seattle. The meeting will be held on January 1 at the T-Mobile Park stadium. Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights will play.

Boston leads the Atlantic Division standings with 62 points from 37 games. Pittsburgh is fifth in the Capital Division with 44 points. In the next game, the Bears will play away against the Los Angeles Kings on January 6, while the Penguins will face the Vegas Golden Knights on the same day.
