Brentford continued to stun English Premier League players with a stunning 3-1 win over Liverpool, ending manager Jurgen Klopp’s four-straight run.
Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate loosened the ball in his own goal in the 19th minute and Yoan Visa doubled Brentford’s lead before half-time after the referee ruled out two more goals for his side following a video assistant referee review on exciting first 45 minutes.
Darwin Nunes scored for Liverpool early in the second half but was ruled offside by the referee.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gave Liverpool hope with a header from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross, but Brian Mbeumu scored the three points for Brentford in the 84th minute.
The win came after a surprise 4-0 win over Manchester United in August and also a 2-1 win over defending champions Manchester City in November, which saw Brentford climb to seventh place on 26 points from 18 games.
Liverpool are in sixth place with 28 points from 17 games.
Brentford were without top scorer Ivan Toney through injury but benefited from the defensive confusion of their more famous and powerful opponents.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank said: “Ivan is an important player and is playing very well. If you ask me if I wanted to, the answer is yes, of course. But we need more than 11 players and I’m very happy for Vesa’s goal.

“It was a wild game,” he told Sky Sports. It was something that Brentford really needed, my team found it difficult to control. Every corner kick was a huge threat. We conceded the first goal, but we could have made it 2-0 earlier. We have to be more decisive when we control the game and we didn’t.
“I’m not happy with the way we scored,” added the Liverpool manager. They were better than us in possession situations, Brentford are very successful in the area.
