Roberto Martinez has officially become the coach of the Portugal national football team.

The duration and details of the contract with the 49-year-old specialist are unknown. Martinez replaced Fernando Santos at the head of the Portuguese team, who left his post after the World Cup in Qatar, where the Portuguese team lost to Morocco in the 1/4 final.
Martinez managed the Belgium national team at the World Cup and left the team after an unsuccessful performance. The Belgian team could not make it out of the group, beating the Moroccan team and another future semi-finalist, the Croatian team.
Martinez has been coaching the Belgium national team since 2016 and won a bronze medal with them at the 2018 World Championships in Russia. Before joining Belgium, Martinez coached English Premier League clubs Swansea City, Wigan Athletic and Everton.
