France-Presse: Ronaldo will receive €200m for backing Saudi Arabia’s World Cup bid
MOSCOW, January 10 – RIA Novosti. Portuguese football player Cristiano Ronaldo will receive 200m euros for supporting Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2030 World Cup. informs French Press.
According to a source close to the club, the forward will receive 200m euros under a two-and-a-half-year contract. An additional 200 million will be paid to Portugal as an ambassador for the joint bid of Saudi Arabia, Greece and Egypt to host the 2030 World Cup. It also claims the tournament along with Portugal, Spain and Ukraine.
Ronaldo’s signature was supported by members of the royal family, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It was noted that Al-Nasr did not have the necessary money for the contract, so funds were withdrawn from the Saudi Arabian State Fund (PIF).
At the end of December, Al-Nasr announced that he had signed a contract with Ronaldo until June 2025.
