Skater Kostomarov’s condition with flu and pneumonia remains serious
MOSCOW, January 11 – RIA Novosti. A source told RIA Novosti that 2006 ice dancing Olympic champion Roman Kostomarov is in serious condition with flu and unilateral pneumonia after being transferred to a hospital in Kommunarka.
Earlier, ice show choreographer Maxim Stavisky told RIA Novosti that Kostomarov was in intensive care with pneumonia, later another source reported that the skater was transferred to Kommunarka, where he underwent an ECMO artificial oxygen saturation procedure used to sustain life in emergency situations. On New Year’s holidays, Kostomarov performed in the program “The Wizard of Oz” by Ilya Averbukh.
Kostomarov was paired with Tatyana Navka. In addition to the Olympic gold, the couple has two wins at the world championships and three each at the European and Russian championships and the Grand Prix Final. At various times, Ekaterina Davydova and Anna Semenovich were partners of Kostomarov.
