Lavrov left a note of condolences in the Brazilian Embassy in connection with Pele’s death.
MOSCOW, January 17 – RIA Novosti. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited the Brazilian Embassy in Moscow and left a note in his condolence book about the death of legendary football player Pele.
“On January 17, Russian Federation Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited the Embassy of the Brazilian Federative Republic in Moscow, where he left a note in the Condolence Book in connection with the death of the legendary football player Pelé. It will contribute to the development and popularization of football,” he said.
Lavrov also met with Brazil’s Ambassador to Russia Baena Soares.
“The parties’ mutual focus on ensuring the continuity of strategic partnership in Russia-Brazil relations was emphasized, and the route of strengthening bilateral cooperation in political, commercial, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian fields was confirmed. Developing ties with integration associations in Latin America and the Caribbean, in particular the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the South American Common Market (MERCOSUR), – the ministry said after the meeting.
Pele died on December 29, at the age of 82, after a long illness.
