UFC fighter Molina suspected of involvement in betting fraud case

MOSCOW, January 18 – RIA Novosti. American Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight fighter Jeff Molina suspicious ESPN, citing Nevada Deputy Attorney General Joel Becker, is involved in a fraud case with odds currently being investigated by several U.S. government agencies.

Last December, the Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended Molina for no reason. Becker said Tuesday that evidence has emerged that the American fighter is suspected of “significant involvement” in a betting scam that is currently under investigation against Molina’s trainer, James Krause.

Earlier in November, US Integrity launched an investigation into a UFC featherweight match after suspicious betting activity was discovered between American Darrick Minner, also trained by Krause, and Shaylan Nurdanbek of China. Offshore bookies, as well as New Jersey and New York bookies, have reported unusual interest in bets that Minner will lose in the first round and that the fight will go under two and a half rounds. The fight ended with Nurdanbek’s victory in the first round.

A month after the fight, gambling control officials in New Jersey stopped accepting bets on any Krause-related incident. Krause and Minner are currently disqualified for failing to report Minner’s leg injury on pre-fight medical forms. In December, the UFC announced that fighters who continued to train with Krause or at his gym would be denied entry to the events until an investigation by the authorities.

Molina, 25, has won 11 victories and suffered two losses during her mixed martial arts career. He defeated Zhalgas Zhumagulov of Kazakhstan in his last fight in June 2022.
