World Cup in Qatar breaks attendance record for world championship in Russia
MOSCOW, January 18 – RIA Novosti. According to the International Football Federation’s (FIFA) website, more fans attended World Cup matches in Qatar than the tournament in Russia.
The tournament in Qatar was watched by 3.4 million people in the stadiums, which exceeded the 3 million fans of the 2018 World Cup held in Russia. The final match of the 2022 World Cup attracted nearly 1.5 billion viewers worldwide, and more than 550 million watched the opening match. The total audience of the tournament is approximately 5 billion people.
In addition, 93.6 million thematic posts were published on social networks during the World Cup, with a total reach of 262 billion.
The World Cup in Qatar was held from 20 November to 18 December. The Argentine team won the win, the French team the silver medal and the Croatian players the bronze medal.
