Former figure skater Yagudin called the men’s valid performances at the First Channel Cup
MOSCOW, January 23 – RIA Novosti, Svetlana Bonopartova. Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin, in a meeting with RIA Novosti, described men’s skating as valid at the First Channel Figure Skating Cup.
The tournament was held in Moscow on 21-22 January. According to the results of six disciplines – competitions in two programs between sports pairs, men and women – the team of Alina Zagitova (“The Red Machine”) was ahead of the team of Kamila Valieva (“They Will Not Catch Us”). The winners received 2344.24 points, the runners-up – 2275.47 points.
“Often women are a mystery in the life of humanity, but if we take our Russian figure skating, these words can be attributed to our men. These are certainly competitions that are always on the verge of breaking the nervous system. But maybe this is the Highlight: You never know how the tournament will end,” added the former skater.
Yagudin believes that fans of figure skating abroad watch the Russian tournament.
“Maybe not all the world sees the performance of our athletes in international tournaments, but those who know and are interested in the world of figure skating, believe me, they followed the events in both the jumping tournament and the First Channel Cup.” – Yagudin said.
