Medvedev: It is necessary to improve family sports in the context of sanctions against professional sports
MOSCOW, January 25 – RIA Novosti. United Russia president Dmitry Medvedev said that in a situation where Russia’s high-performance sports are far from international competitions, emphasis should be placed on the development of family sports.
Medvedev believes that such a decision will be just and the Russians will support it, because in the end the sport of high achievers at the family and departmental level is formed.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that due to the situation in Ukraine, international sports federations should prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions as a preventive measure. In December, the final declaration of the Olympic summit in Lausanne, Switzerland, spoke of universal support for the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) initiative to review these protective measures.
