MOSCOW, January 26 – RIA Novosti. Philippines Vice President and Minister of Education Sarah Duterte said the country is open to cooperation with Russia in the context of the possible arrival of 12th world chess champion Anatoly Karpov to train Filipino youth.
The vice president, daughter of the former president of the Philippines, added that during his meeting with the head of the Russian diplomatic mission, cooperation between the countries in the fields of energy, education and agriculture was also discussed.
“We also thanked the ambassador for Russia’s donation of the Sputnik V vaccine to the Philippines at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Duterte said.
Anatoly Karpov is 71 years old. The grandmaster first won the world title in 1975 and held it until 1985.
