Vyalbe: There is nothing surprising in the words of FIS Secretary General Vion about Russian skiers
MOSCOW, January 27 – RIA Novosti. The head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation, Elena Vyalbe, appealed for the decision of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) to prevent the Russians from participating in the expected 2023 World Championship.
On January 25, the IOC Executive Board called for the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions with neutral status, while proposing that athletes who actively support special operations in Ukraine should not be allowed. Despite this, FIS Secretary General Michel Vion said that Russian athletes do not have a chance to compete in the 2023 World Championship.
“We knew this before – nothing to even comment on. Could something have changed after the IOC’s announcement? Now I will see how all the international federations rush to open the doors to Russians and Belarusians. “Championship”.
The World Ski Championships will be held from February 22 to March 5 in Planica, Slovenia.
