Latypov wins the pursuit race in the fifth stage of the Commonwealth Biathlon Cup
MINSK, January 28 – RIA Novosti. Russian biathlete Eduard Latypov became the winner of the pursuit in the fifth stage of the Commonwealth Cup, which took place in the Belarusian Olympic training center Raubichi.
Latypov ran the distance of 12.5 km in 31 minutes 48.6 seconds and made three misses in four firing lines. Second place was taken by Belarusian Anton Smolsky (18.5 s back; 3 misses). Third place is taken by Russian Daniil Serokhvostov (+18.6; 3).
Also in the top five were Karim Khalili (4th place, +39.8; 1) and Alexei Povarnitsyn (5th, +51.4; 1).
The fifth stage of the Commonwealth Cup, held in Raubichi with the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus, will end on January 29.
The Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in September decided to approve the ban of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice due to the situation in Ukraine.
