Marseille agreed in principle on the transfer of the 22-year-old midfielder, the amount of compensation and the terms of the player’s contract were not disclosed.
Earlier in December, Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona plans to sign Unai to replace Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, whom they were unable to sign due to the need to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.
Unai has been with Angers since summer 2021. He played 17 matches for the Moroccan national team, where he scored two goals. At the World Cup in Qatar, Unai reached the semi-finals with the African team and eventually finished fourth, playing all seven matches in the tournament.
