FIS will not penalize a team that gives Stupak a training shirt on the World Cup track
MOSCOW, February 3 – RIA Novosti. International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) won’t be Michal Lamplot, the organisation’s flight director, said to punish the team that gave Olympic relay champion Yuliya Stupak a shirt to train on the World Cup track.
On Friday, Russian skiers’ coach Yuri Borodavko told RIA Novosti that Stupak is training at the World Cup track in Toblach, Italy, to better prepare for the Russian Championship Heights competition. According to media reports, the skier went to the piste only with a shirt front, which was bought by athletes accredited to the competition. The Russian woman’s training caused the dissatisfaction of Norwegian skiers and Eric Reste, president of the Norwegian Ski Federation and member of the FIS board.
German Markus Kramer, former coach of the Russian national cross-country team, said Stupak was not a training shirt.
The FIS has suspended Russians and Belarusians from last season’s final starts due to the situation in Ukraine. In October, the FIS Council extended the suspension for the 2022/23 season.
