MOSCOW, February 5 – RIA Novosti. Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Fedor Emelianenko has announced his retirement after losing to Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader.

The fight, which became the main event of the 290th promotional tournament hosted by Los Angeles, ended with the US representative’s victory by technical knockout in the first round. This was the second match of the athletes: at the beginning of 2019, Bader knocked out Emelianenko in the first minute of the match.

“On the one hand, I am sorry that I could not please you. On the other hand, I am glad that you applauded me. The fighters who have been with me for decades have gathered here. Now I will raise the youth. Guys. I’m done. Thank you all” – said Emelianenko after the fight.

On the eve of the fight, the Russian repeatedly stated that his second fight with Bader will be the last in his professional career. Emelianenko is 46 years old. They have 40 wins with seven losses. Bader, 39, had 31 wins and seven losses.
