Olympic champion Chepalova called the IOC’s conditions for the admission of Russians to tournaments nonsense
MOSCOW, February 8 – RIA Novosti. Yulia Chepalova, three-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing criticized Conditions for admission of Russian athletes to tournaments put forward by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
On January 25, the IOC Executive Committee called for the return of athletes in neutral status, while proposing that those who actively support special operations in Ukraine should not be allowed.
“Well, that’s bullshit.Has Portsman gone on a dream his whole life? And what, will it sell the country? What if an athlete says “sports is non-political” during the test? I don’t like this position. It is clear that the decision will be made by the general, including the federations Elena Valerievna (Vyalbe, head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation – approx.). I will always support him for saying smart things. But still, it will be necessary to think a hundred times before making such a decision, ”the former athlete told Sport-Express.
Chepalova won gold medals at the 1998, 2002 and 2006 Olympics. She was banned for two years from doping in December 2009, a few months after her career as an athlete ended.
