MMA fighter Makhachev said Khabib’s tips will help him in his fight against Volkanovski.
MOSCOW, February 12 – RIA Novosti. Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Islam Makhachev says tips from former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will help him fight Australian Alexander Volkanovski.
Makhachev defeated Volkanovski and defended the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight title for the first time. The bout was run by UFC 284 in Perth, Australia, with all five rounds gone. Makhachev won by unanimous decision and became the best fighter in the league regardless of weight categories (P4P). Nurmagomedov was not present in this fight.
In October 2020, Nurmagomedov announced the end of his professional career. The Russian left the sport undefeated with 29 wins. After that, Khabib started coaching. Under his leadership, Mahachev became the UFC lightweight champion in 2022.
