Volkanovski believes Makhachev may have used IV after losing weight before the match
MOSCOW, February 14 – RIA Novosti. Australian Alexander Volkanovski, winner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) title in the featherweight division, believes that Russian Islam Makhachev can use a dropper to get rid of weight loss before fighting him.
On Sunday, Mahachev defeated Volkanovski to defend the UFC lightweight belt for the first time. The bout was run by UFC 284 in Perth, Australia, with all five rounds gone. Makhachev won by unanimous decision. The Russian weight at the weighing ceremony was 70.3 kg.
UFC fighters are prohibited from using saltwater drops as they can help cover up their use of doping.
Makhachev is 31 years old, he has 24 wins and one loss. The Russian won 12 victories in a row. Volkanovski, 34, has 25 wins and two losses.
