Pogorilaya said that the cause of prejudice in figure skating is the human factor.

st. PETERSBURG, 17 February – RIA Novosti, Dmitry Edigarev. Anna Pogorilaya, bronze medalist of the World Figure Skating Championships, commented on two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko’s statement about the judges’ prejudiced attitude towards her skaters, telling RIA Novosti that this could be due to the human factor.

Earlier, Plushenko told RIA Novosti that he will not interfere with the transition of athletes from the Angela Plushenko Academy to other teams, because the Russian judges are biased in their performance.

“There is probably a bias in our sport, because it is a human factor. There may be an athlete who loves someone more, someone who loves less. Some athletes may try to play for other countries, participate in international competitions there. For example, Anastasia Gubanova plays for Georgia and He won the European Championship, which is currently impossible.”

Against the backdrop of events in Ukraine on March 1, the Council of the International Skating Union (ISU) banned Russian and Belarusian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track skaters from participating in international tournaments. In June, the ISU Congress approved this resolution, valid until further notice.
