Spartak defeated Lokomotiv in the first match of the Russian Cup 1/4 final.
MOSCOW, February 22 – RIA Novosti. Moscow “Spartak” players defeated the capital’s “Locomotive” in the first match of the 1/4 final of the Russian Cup RPL.
The match, which took place in the railways stadium, ended with the guest team’s 1-0 advantage. Red-White midfielder Danil Prutsev scored the ball in the 16th minute. In the 78th minute, Lokomotiv football player Stanislav Magkeev sent the ball into Spartak’s nets, but after the video review, the referee of the match, Vladislav Bezborodov, recorded an offside position and canceled the goal.

The first official match for Lokomotiv was played by striker Artem Dzyuba, who was released in the starting lineup. The 34-year-old striker joined Lokomotiv as a free agent on February 8 and signed with the Red-Greens until the end of this season. Dziuba is a Spartak graduate, represented the team from 2006 to 2015 (on loan breaks to other teams).
Igor Smolnikov, Sergey Pinyaev and Ilya Lantratov also made their debuts in official matches for Lokomotiv.
The return match will be played on February 27 at Spartak stadium.
