MOSCOW, February 25 – RIA Novosti. Russian Federation Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that athletes from Russia and 11 countries will participate in the “Children of Asia” draw for the second Winter International Sports Games.
“For 27 years, the Games has been a launching pad for many young athletes and plays an important role in the development of youth sports. The Kemerovo region is one of the most dynamically developing regions in the field of physical education and sports in our country. “He has extensive experience in organizing tournaments of various levels, a modern priority is given to the creation of sports infrastructure. I believe that the region will organize the Asian Children’s Games at the highest organizational level,” stressed Oleg Matytsin of the Russian Federation.
The “Children of Asia” 2023 Games program included cross-country skiing, speed skating, hockey, snowboarding, alpine skiing, figure skating and other sports. For the first time in the history of the Games, four regions will simultaneously host the competition – Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk, Mezhdurechensk, Tashtagolsky municipal district.
The International Sports Games “Children of Asia” were first held in 1996 at the initiative of the first President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Mikhail Nikolaev, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympic movement. Since then, the games have been held every four years. In 2016, it was decided to separate the Games into winter and summer.
