AD: Promes’ cousin seeks more than one million euros in compensation from a player for being stabbed
MOSCOW, March 3 – RIA Novosti. The cousin of Spartak Moscow football player Quincy Promes has sued his relative for more than 1m euros for his stab wound.
The hearing is on Friday. Promes is absent from the meeting due to contractual obligations to Spartak.
Previously, a criminal case was initiated against the football player on suspicion of being involved in an armed attack and stabbing. The incident occurred in late July 2020. According to media reports, the actress had an argument with her cousin during a party and stabbed her. On 13 December 2020, Promes was arrested, and on 15 December it was announced that he was released, but in the status of a suspect.
Dutch police also suspect that Promes is involved in cocaine trafficking and the activities of a criminal organization. Promes’ lawyer, Robert Malevich, said at the beginning of the meeting, “The prosecutor in this case would have petitioned for the football player’s arrest. But he cannot risk being arrested. He wanted to be here, but now he has to make a choice.”
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Sports had refused Spartak’s application for Russian citizenship to Promes. The Moscow club reported that the refusal of the Ministry of Sports to help obtain a passport for a Dutch citizen is connected with the player’s lawsuits in the Netherlands.
Spartak ex-player supported Promes in case of Russian passport
Promes is 31 years old. He returned to Spartak in February 2021. Prior to that, the forward played for the Red and Whites from 2014 to 2018. As part of the Moscow team, Promes became the champion of Russia, the owner of the Cup and the country’s Super Cup.
